Stakeholder meeting on Sustainable Ground Water Management in Jaffna District was held in the Northern Provincial Conference hall under the chairmanship of Governor of Northern Province GA Chandrasiri on 16th May 2013 under the patronage of International Water Management Institute (IWMI), Sri Lanka.

A special function to provide the salary arrears of Northern Province teachers held at Governor’s Secretariat in Jaffna on 16 May 2013. Governor of Northern Province GA Chandrasiri participated  in the function and provided the salary arrears. 

“Beautification project has been major success in Jaffna Municipal Council Area. As a result, the area has become a major tourist attraction.”

Jaffna Clock Tower was recently renovated and the surroundings were beatified by Jaffna Municipal Council. The reopening ceremony of the tower was held on 16th May 2013. Minister of Traditional Industries and Small Enterprise Development Douglas Devananda and Governor of Northern Province GA Chandrasiri participated as chief guests.

“Resettling the long term IDPs also has become a success story. Muslims also resettled in their native places in Jaffna.”

A ceremony to distribute bicycles to the resettled Muslims was held at Grand Mohideen Jumma Mosque at Manipay Road, Jaffna on 16th May 2013. Minister of Traditional Industries and Small Enterprise Development Douglas Devananda and Governor of Northern Province GA Chandrasiri participated as chief guests.

A special meeting with the representatives of Puloly Multi Purpose Cooperative Society was held at the office of Puloly MPCS on 15th  May 2013. Governor of Northern Province GA Chandrasiri chaired the meeting.

Economic strengthening programme and distribution ceremony of supporting aids to disabled people was held at the main hall of Kilinochchi District Cooperative Board on 15th May 2013. Minister of Traditional Industries and Small Enterprise Development Douglas Devananda and Governor of Northern Province GA Chandrasiri participated as chief guests.

“FAO has been another development partner of Northern Province in terms of upgrading the nutrition level and promoting healthy food practices among the masses.”

A ceremony to distribute equipments to the farms and district offices of Department of Animal Production and Health was held on 14th May 2013 at Kilinochchi. Governor of Northern Province GA Chandrasiri participated as the chief guest and distributed equipments.
