A meeting to review progress of work being carried out in the Northern Province was held at the district secretariat in Jaffna yesterday evening under the chair of President Mahinda Rajapakse. The district secretaries of Jaffna, Kilinochchi, Mullaitheevu, Mannar and Vavuniya presented the progress status of projects at this meeting.

President Mahinda Rajapaksa said that it is the duty and responsibility of the government to provide the facilities available in the Colombo city to children of the villages as well.  The President said that the atmosphere should be created for the younger generation who are to take the responsibility of this country in the future to obtain their education freely and to protect their health conditions.

President Mahinda Rajapakse stated that he and the government serve the masses without any difference. He also said the Northern Province suffered a lot during the last 30 years. So the government has givenpreference to develop the Northern Province. President Mahinda Rajapaksa made these comments when he opened new buildings at the Chavakachcheri hospital yesterday.

On the second day of the Deyata Kirula Exhibition, President Mahinda Rajapaksa visited the section of Northern Province. He saw the exhibited items enthusiastically. Director of Industrial Department of Northern Province K.Sivakaran gave a comprehensive description about the products.

High Commissioners, Ambassadors and other foreign representatives who came from over 40 countries for the celebration of 64th Independence Day of Republic of Sri Lanka were warmly welcomed in Jaffna on 05th February 2012.

President Mahinda Rajapakse declared open the Dayata Kirula Exhibition 2012 at Oyamaduwa in Anuradhapura , yesterday at around 5.30PM.This is the Sri Lanka's biggest public exhibition Deyata Kirula.
