The Northern Provincial Council will bear the total cost of sending a total of 500 school children in two batches of 250 each from the Northern Province on an educational tour of Sri Lanka. These children are in the age of 14 to 18 years.
Amidst a large crowd present in the Port basin to witness this historic moment His Excellency President Mahinda Rajapaksa ceremonially released water to the 17 meter deep inland Hambantota Harbour basin with the chanting of Sethpirith by Maha Sanga.
One day training programme on Traffic Rules and Regulation and Mechanical Engineering was conducted for 30 drivers attached to the Northern Province offices on 14 August 2010 at MDTI Auditorium.
