According to the Hon.Governor's instruction a two - day conference on Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) has been organized by the Provincial Planning Secretariat, NPC in collaboration with the Lanka Software Foundation (LSF)  on 14th and 15th September 2009 at the main conference hall, ABC building, Northern Province, Varothayanagar, Trincomalee. ICTA Sri Lanka provides support as strategic partner.

The above conference will facilitate to upgrade the IT knowledge to the Northern Provincial Council staff. The FOSS conference started at 9.00am on 14th September 2009 with the welcome note by Mr.R.Umakanthan, Deputy Chief Secretary - Planning, NPC and Mr.Devaka Randeniya, represented Lanka Software Foundation delivered key note address.
