National Cadet Corps Battalion Day held in Jaffna – 30 May 2013

National Cadet Corps Battalion Day of 20th Cadet Division was celebrated at Jaffna Duraiyappa Stadium on 30th May 2013.

Governor of Northern Province GA Chandrasiri participated as chief guest. This event was organized to make awareness among the parents, teachers, principals and students on the activities of national cadet corps battalion. 

Cadet corps of the leading schools in Jaffna District such as Jaffna Hindu College, St. John’s College, Kokuvil Hindu College, Hartley College, Nelliyadi MMV, Union College, Manipay Hindu College, Jaffna Central College, St. Patrick’s College, Ilavalai St. Henry’s College, Mallakam MMV and other schools    took part at this cadet corps battalion day. 

Special dance programme of Ilavalai MMV girls was also held. Students of Kandy Kingswood College and Wariapola Sri Sumangala MMV also performed eastern band and other cultural items.

While involving these types of activities, the students develop their dynamic leadership quality which leads them to a successful life in future and helps them to overcome their problems, Governor said. This cadet corps was established in 1881 in Colombo Royal College and then extended to other district schools as well. After the  end of war, Northern Province schools rejoined at this national cadet corps from  2011.

Secretary to the Governor L.Ilaangovan and national cadet officials also took part in the event.
