The Presidential Election was conducted on 26 January 2010 with the polls commencing at 7.00 am and concluding at 4.00 pm. In all there were 11,098 polling stations spread through out the country.
There were a total of 22 in the run up for Presidency and HE President Mahinda Rajapaksa was victorious having received 6,015,934 votes with a majority of 1,841,749 votes as against his closest rival. HE the President received 57.88% of the total votes.
