J/Urumpirai Hindu College celebrates its centenary in grand scale – 11 April 2011

J/Urumpirai Hindu College which achieved the second highest rank at Provincial level and fourth highest rank at National level in National ICT Excellence Award (NICTEA) competition is celebrating its Centenary in a grand scale. Although this school is located in rural area of Jaffna , with the excellent performances in ICT field the students , parents, teachers,  well-wishers and the principal are proud of their school.

Old students of this school including some expatriates who are working as Engineers and industrialists in European countries, financially support this school in its development activities.
The school society of J/Urumpirai Hindu College, as a part of the centenary celebration has arranged and conducted literary competitions and sports events such as soccer, netball, soft ball-cricket, Marathon race and cycle race among the schools in Jaffna Zone during the last 2 months.  
Ceremonial functions of Centenary celebration started on the 9th April 2011. The functions arranged as morning sessions and evening sessions continued for three days under the patronage of the school principal  Mr.A. Easwaranathan. Religious leaders, High officials of Education Sector and other sectors of Northern Province, intellectuals, Popular artists and Writers of Jaffna District, News paper Editors, Expatriate Professionals & scholars from Europe and parents also actively participated in this celebration. The Centenary Book of J/Urumpirai Hindu College was launched by the Chief Guest, Mr. V.T. Selvaratnam, Additional Provincial Director of Education Jaffna on the final day of the celebration on 11th April 2011.
